Course Description

Teacher in Charge:

The Level 1 NCEA Science course explores different Science topics and is perfect for those curious about how our world works. You will learn to apply Science to local issues in South Canterbury and understand kaitiakitanga (guardianship) in a local context. During the course, there will be lots of opportunities to explore practical Science and carry out experiments. The skills gained in this course will help you to understand real-world scientific information better. Level 1 Science is an exciting course that helps students appreciate the relevance of science in their lives. The course will cover a wide range of topics from Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth & Space Science.



You will have the opportunity to research and communicate ideas on various Scientific topics. These will also allow you to gain some literacy credits.  Through these assessments, you will gain an understanding of a range of different aspects of Science. This course will also give you the skills to move on with Science at Level 2 and Level 3.
