Level 3 Visual Art

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Miss K. Miller.

Level 3 Visual Art       13ART

Level 3 Visual Art is whatever you would like it to be. Choose from a range of standards to build your year course - would you like to work on a painting project and a photography project? Would you like to produce a portfolio of printmaking?

Beginning with a Year Proposal, you will build your own course to fit where you see your strengths, skills, or interests. You can choose an entirely internal course across multiple disciplines (painting, printmaking, digital, and photography), or focus on one pathway with internals and an external portfolio (e.g two painting internals and an external painting portfolio). A good understanding of your chosen medium/s is preferred, and if you would like to work in photography or digital mediums your own equipment is needed.

If you are unsure of what medium you would like to work in, please have a conversation with Miss Miller - usually students will continue with the same medium they worked in for Level 2 Visual Art (e.g. all Painting standards). You will choose a maximum of 22 credits.

Please note - students will choose a maximum of three achievement standards from the list of available standards.

To qualify as a UE subject, you will need to gain a total of 14 credits from one discipline (e.g three internals in painting; an internal and the external portfolio both in photography).

Note:  N.C.E.A. Level 3 Visual Art is an integrated full year's course of study. All internally assessed units are designed to prepare students for the externally assessed portfolio. It is expected that students entering Level 3 Visual Art would have completed the Level 2 Visual Arts course, and have a good understanding of the study requirements at this level.

NOTE: Individual assessment programmes will be designed for each student at the beginning of the course to suit their strengths and focus - aiming for approximately 20 credit totals for each student
