Teacher in Charge:

Level 3 Science is a is an achievement standard course and it is also a University Entrance Subject. This course integrates different Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth & Space) to provide an internally based course at Level 3. The course is research based and you can work at your own pace and learn about different aspects of Science that interest you. Combined Science can count as a UE subject if 14 Level 3 Science credits are completed.

There is also the possibility of looking at some Environment for Sustainability standards for those students who are interested. Depending on student interests we may offer a practical Earth & Space Science investigation and external. During the course a range of assessments can be covered depending on the interests of the students. Some of the topics available include:

  • Protection of the Ross Sea (Marine Sanctuary)
  • Space Exploration of Mars
  • The Geology of the Alpine Fault
  • Should Aotearoa remain Nuclear Free?
  • Medical Imaging
  • Chemistry of Plastics
