Level 1 Hospitality (FTN100)
This NCEA level one course for year 11 student will build upon the skills, knowledge and practices learnt within the Junior Academies.
Students in this course will develop their understanding of nutritional needs, socio-ecological perspectives, enhancing well-being and cultural influences through a range of relevant contexts. Interwoven through this course will be practical skills with an emphasis on hospitality, budgeting, healthy food choices, safe food practices, meal planning and everyday life cooking.
Throughout the year students will complete tasks, challenges, and skill based learning that staircase students towards industry linked to this content. Students can expect a mixture of theory and hands on practical components - a commitment from students to engage and complete all elements of this course is important.
Students can expect to be in the kitchen cooking at least once per week, produce a range of dishes such as sushi, cakes, sponges, realistic and sustainable home style dishes.
