Course Description

Come with us on a journey through the history of Colonisation. We will explore our whakapapa as New Zealanders and make sense of some of the damning statistics associated with early European contact in Aotearoa. Throughout this course we will examine the impact that European migration has had on indigenous populations around the world, and make comparisons with Aotearoa. We will discuss the unique siutation in New Zealand and evaluate the role that Tiriti o Waitangi has had on the relationship between Maori and Pakeha.

Throughout the module we will make comparisons between New Zealand and global contexts which include, but are not limited to; South Africa, India, Vietnam, South East Asia, and The Americas.

By the end of this course you will have developed a number of mapping, graphing, prediction, statistical display and analytical skills that will be used to develop a visual time-walk for an area of the school.
