Level 2 Engineering HMM 201
Engineering is a practical course that allows students to gain competence in core engineering skills. The skills include the use of hand tools, bench work, lathe machining, welding, fabrication, reading drawings, technical drawing. There is also written work required to gain the Unit Standards.

Term 1
Test plate, vice guards, pattern making.
Main project Gear knob
Two Unit Standards related to practical work.
Term 2
Completion of the gear knob and Unit Standards
Small welding project
Term 3
Combination wood and engineering vice
Two Unit Standards related to practical work.
Term 4
Completion of vice and Unit Standards.
Recommended Prior Learning
It is recommended that students have completed a practical course in year 11 but not essential, as long as students enjoy practical work and strive to do there best.
