Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

It is recommended that students have done ether wood or engineering in years 11 or 12.


Level 3 Engineering/Technology  13HMM

Engineering is a practical course that allows students to gain competence in advanced engineering/technological skills and knowledge. The skills include the use of hand tools, power tools. lathe and milling machining, welding, and fabrication. Also Technical Drawing and Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines such as the laser cutter and 3D printer will be a major part of this course.

The first project is the designing and construct of a chess set using CAD and CNC machines.

The second project will be based on a student design task. Depending on student numbers and interest a small petrol motorized vehicle could be constructed.

Complete chess set and start designing second project.
