Year 9 and 10 STEM Option: Rural Sciences

In this engaging STEM course, students explore the science and technology that drive rural industries, particularly agriculture, horticulture, environmental management, and food production. Through hands-on learning and real-world applications, students gain a practical understanding of key scientific principles that impact rural areas, including soil science, plant and animal biology, sustainable farming practices, and the role of technology in modern agriculture.

Students will participate in field trips to local farms and conservation areas, conduct experiments related to soil health, crop growth, and animal welfare, and learn how technology—such as drones, sensors, and GPS—is transforming rural industries. This course offers insight into potential career pathways in agriculture, environmental science, and technology, aiming to equip students with foundational skills and knowledge for the future of rural sciences.
