Food Tech - Y10
In Year 10 Food Technology 2025, you’ll dive into the exciting world of cooking and food science, blending hands-on practice with essential food knowledge. The semester starts with the basics of food safety and hygiene, ensuring you’re prepared to handle food responsibly. In Term 1, we’ll explore the functional properties of food, learning how ingredients interact to create different textures and flavours. Then, in Term 2, you’ll take on a creative challenge: designing a staple food product, complete with sensory qualities, labels, and packaging. Through these activities, you’ll develop skills in cooking, baking, and food hygiene, gaining insight into nutrition and health-related food choices. By the end of the course, you’ll be well-prepared to move into senior school hospitality studies, with practical skills and knowledge that set a foundation for future careers in the Hospitality Industry.
