Creative Writing and Yearbook

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms L. Scott Araya.

In this academy, we are going to be learning about, and creating our own writing. This can be any genre that you choose. Perhaps, you want to scare us with ghostly tales and murders; maybe you want to set up a blog or to write some creative nonfiction about an aspect of your life; you might be a poet and want to share your work with a wider audience. It's up to you. By the end of the academy, you will have further developed your fabulous vocabulary, your magical emotive language and scintillating syntax, and learned to write in different styles and with different 'voices.' There will also be opportunities to put forward your work to writing competitions, some of which have prizes and all of which have glory and honour.

We will also be beginning to work on the yearbook. Are you a budding photographer or amazing artist? Got great skills in Canva and design? Do you want to be part of a team that publishes a year at Mountie in a magazine? Then, this is the academy for you! Polish up your pen and warm up your computer...

This academy is for people who are interested in writing (skill level does not matter.) Everyone joining it must be ready to learn, open to new ideas and collaboration, and able to work both quietly and independently and in a bigger team. Writing and publishing involves tight deadlines and you need to be ready for the challenge of meeting them.
