Course Overview
Term 1
Students will explore "What makes a good friend?", relationships and learn how to give and receive advice. Keeping healthy connects nicely with this topic. They will also look at their futures and possible jobs and/or study they would like to take. Students will be exposed to a number of texts to help them learn translation, listening and writing skills.
Term 2
This term, students will study film and technology. By viewing a Spanish film, they will learn to critique its form and make recommendations to others about it. They will write a film review, and this can be used also for an oral presentation. Technology will be studied, and we will look at the pros and cons of this area.
Term 3
Tourism and the environment are our topics of interest this term. Students will explore what is good tourism and the possible effects of this on the environment. Students will be given opportunities to write, read and listen about this topic, helping them complete their writing portfolio, help them for their interactions and/or deliver a speech on an area that interests them. History of historical places of interest will also be discussed.
Term 4
Final examination preparation will be given to help students experience success in this area of learning.
Recommended Prior Learning
This course is a step up from Level 1. It is highly recommended that a Level 1 NCEA Spanish course has been taken before enrolling in NCEA Level 2. If Spanish has not been taken prior to Level 2, students and caregivers must consult with Ms. Campbell.
